The Data for Good Survey, conducted in April 2024 in Tilak Bridge Officers' Colony, aimed to understand the safety concerns of domestic workers, who are predominantly women. The survey, distributed among residents who employed these workers, collected data on issues such as safety concerns during specific times of day, children’s safety and care, and spatial or area-based challenges affecting personal safety and well-being. The survey also gathered suggestions for potential improvements. Through this initiative, we were able to garner valuable insights into their daily routines and the challenges they face in their work life.
In July 2024, we launched an online fundraising campaign on the platform Milaap. The campaign successfully raised over 50,000 INR, and the proceeds were donated to the Resident Welfare Association of Tilak Bridge Officers' Colony, who then purchased and distributed smartphones and data cards to domestic workers employed in the neighbourhood. This initiative aimed to provide these women with digital tools to improve their safety and access to necessary resources, which, we hope, will make it much easier for them to take on work opportunities for economic empowerment.
